Reflexology is centuries old as seen in this ancient Egyptian Papyrus found in the tomb of the physician, Ankhmahor. It is said to date back to approximately 2500 BC.
Zone Therapy was developed in 1902 by an American Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor, Dr. William Fitzgerald (Father of modern Reflexology). He discovered he could induce numbness and alleviate symptoms in the body. He determined that "zones" ran up and down the body, and realized that by applying pressure to a particular area on the fingers and toes a completely different area of the body would go numb.
How it works and benefits
Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. The feet and hands are a mirror image of the body.
